A Theological Christian: a self-professing Christian who has feels they understand the Bible and theological issues such that they talk about their faith using apologetic strategies to fulfill the advice of the writer of 1 Peter.
Just as Christians feel they should be able to defend their faith, maybe Atheists should heed that advise and be able to defend their faith-free choices — and to do so succinctly, honestly, simply and modestly.
Most theological Christians, and other theists, feel atheists are too close-minded. They feel we should constantly be searching and at least be humble enough to say, “Well, it could be . . .”

The BitterSweet End 
I think the author is absolutely right but I’m neither a fundamentalist nor an evangelical Christian!
You are a Christian. A member of a cult that has over 30,000 different denominations whose basic tenet is that the character Jesus is divine. It is an insidious faith-based ball of nonsense that is inculcated in children and if some had their way would be instilled in schools as a matter of national policy. You may sit outside, or on the fence, it matters not.

You baffle me – I have far more empathy with some atheists than I do with those Christians who think they have all the answers – and I did say that I think the author of that article is absolutely right. You are entitled to your opinion that the Christian faith as a whole is nonsense and I have absolutely no desire to change your view.
Christians have been baffled for a long time it seems.
Maybe when you find the desire to truly understand that it is all lies you will become un-baffled?
My defense is simple: I need real, verifiable, incontrovertible evidence.
Aynway – that’s a comment I can understand. I recognise that many people not unreasonably, are looking for proof. For me there is an enormous difference between the Christian FAITH and the Christian RELIGION. It seems to me that there is an awful lot of flawed logic and reason within the theology of Christendom. But I have to admit that there is absolutely no reason or logic that would explain the death and resurrection of Christ.
I can understand people who are agnostic – I would describe myself as an agnostic theist. I have no reason to doubt the existence of God (with or without a capital letter) but I certainly cannot accept some of the teaching of Christendom.
I sometimes suggest that there are atheists who reject any concept of God – there are agnostics who have doubts – and there are believers who are convinced that they have all the answers. Thus there is a sliding scale between those definitions of atheist and believer. Aren’t most of us somewhere between the two? I’m obviously nearer the opposite end of the scale to you and Arkenaten but I have no problem with that. If God wants others to have someunderstanding of the meaning of faith, that’s his job not mine.
Put all that down to granddad if you want to – I don’t mind!
This answer highlights how ridiculous the whole notion of Christianity (and religion) truly is and is more an indictment of your ‘god’, Jesus (if he were really a deity, of course) than the followers who like to cherry pick their way through the religion.
So silly, really.
