The Screams of 100 Unanswered Prayers

In the early parts of the 1600’s there was a noblewoman by the name of Countess Elizabeth Bathory.  She was a widow and came from the Bathory nobility family line in Hungary.

What the Countess would do, is that she would deceivingly kidnap and trick young adolescent teenage girls into her chambers were she would brutally and barbarically

English: The original portrait of the Countess...

English: The original portrait of the Countess Elizabeth Bathori from 1585 is lost (spirited away in the 1990s). However, this is a fairly contemporary copy of that original, probably painted in the late 16th century. She was 25 when the original portrait — the only known image of her — was painted. torture the girls until they died.  Many of these girls were barely of puberty age.   She tortured the girls for so long and so horribly that some of the people down the hill in the village often claimed to have heard screams emanating from within the walls of the castle.  And in this agonizing death of torture, many of these girls would cry out for mercy.  And scream for God to help them.  But God would not show up, not until after the Countess started running out of peasant girls to torture and kill.  It was then she altered tactics and started to torture girls of noblemen and noble families.

It was not the many unanswered prayers of the tortured peasant girls that put the “Blood Countess” to a stop.  It was when she started to torture some of her own.  Then did the neighboring ruling noble lords could no longer ignore the complaints of the people and launched an investigation.

In the end, her punishment was house arrest, and the punishment of her servants who assisted her in her mass killing spree got the death penalty.  Castle personnel estimated that somewhere between 100 and 200 bodies were removed from the premise.  And one witness at the trial referred to a journal in which a total of more than 650 victims were listed by Báthory herself.  Countess Bathory was only convicted of 80 deaths.  The question everyone must ask, why did God not care enough to answer the prayers of the many girls being horrifically and brutally tortured to death?  Did God not care for them?  Or was he too pre-occupied to hear their screams and prayers?

As horrific as this story is, it pales in comparison to the everyday prayers of starvation that God refuses to answer everyday.  That God would allow people to die everyday from hunger and starvation, while they wait for God to answer their prayers of food.

These are everyday prayers that God ignores everyday.  If God is specifically reaching down from heaven to answer someones prayer for a good parking spot, or to get out of traffic ticket, or to help one find their lost keys, while at the same time God is allowing 25,000 children to die of starvation each day by specifically ignoring their prayers (that is one child every five seconds), then God deeply has his priorities all messed up.  Or he just doesn’t exist.

About M. Rodriguez

When I first received Christ salvation, I made it a priority to read the whole bible and I did. But it was the Bible that made me question my faith. For I found it flawed and lacking. Due to this I launched a personal inquiry/investigation into my faith, and ultimately realized that the Christian God of the Bible was indeed man-made. Now I Blog about those findings and life after Christ.

Letting those children die of starvation is his way of checking population growth!
    Great post mate

  2. Margaret says:

Makagutu a Christian once told me the same thing.

  3. ... Zoe ~ says:

    Mind boggling isn’t it. 😦

  4. Arkenaten says:

Because time moves differently for god, and fifteen minutes for him is like….bizillions of years for us and he is currently on his tea break and has left explicit instructions with his housekeeper that he..oops sory, He is “Not to be disturbed.”

  5. That is the example of “Free Will”. Human have capability to do what ever he/she like even it was totally cruel or inhumane or out of law.
A capability to choose even it was wrong…
    ****
Another question : As atheist, you don’t believe in God. So, based on your believe, the evidence of God are not counted here. What is your capability to stop this nonsense?

    • M. Rodriguez says:

      Hello Hifzan,

This is a very good question…. I think the only rational answer to your question of Who will stop this? are other people. Other kind hearted people. If other people don’t stop it, then it will continue. And this is why many atheist, have a large compassion for the humanist movement, because there is no god that protects us. no supreme being that answers prayers, We Only Have Each Other.

It is amazing that Christians do not answer direct questions and avoid this by answering a question you never even asked instead ! I feel like I live in Step-ford ville and they all have micro chips implanted in them or something..and someone like myself who can see something is not right and wants to speak out is always attacked for it and even silenced ( at least they try without any success) ! Example : I asked more times than I can even count.. Why God/ Jesus sat and watched the Native American Children while they were beaten, starved and raped by so many Christian denomination churches ( too many.. and not just Catholic)? I cannot even imagine the horror of a 4 year old ,beautiful , innocent child having a grown man of the cloth penetrate them and rape them while God/Jesus just watches on ? I get no answers except how evil the world is etc…and how God will come someday and correct it all …blah, blah, blah ! My original question was why did he sit and do nothing !!! Answer that will ya.. and stop beating around the bush !
Same with starving children in the world…Why does he not feed them and just watch them die ? All I get is that the world is greedy and why they are hungry.. etc…. My original question was why does he sit and watch and do nothing to feed them ?????? Never a straight answer with these Christians ! So darn frustrating ! Being 100% Native American ( my ex of 5 long years) left me on Easter Morning May 20, 2014 ! Why…because of my struggle with this God/Jesus and the bible over what happened at the residential schools ! He was upset that I was blaming the bible/ God and that I was now not Christian enough for him. After what happened to his people you would think he would understand my faith crisis ? But maybe this is like the Stockholm syndrome ?There was a time when the Native American was not good enough in the eyes of Christians and it had to be beaten out of them etc….now the tables have turned and all of the sudden he is Christian and I am not good enough for him ? The Christianity church teaches intolerance and superiority and ti actually caused there to be NO peace in the world ! It causes division and break ups of people who once got along and were happy together. Does this sound like a safe or positive religion ? NO way ! Mr. Rodriguez..I thank you for your site so much ! I am so glad I found it ! Please keep writing and exposing this false God/Jesus and religion ! It has destroyed my life and with things I cannot heal from totally or ever get back ! I was once a Jesus freak who did anything for him….but I too see something disturbingly wrong with this God/Jesus/bible thing ! it is scary what it has done to the whole world, blinding people to the point they cannot see how wrong it is ! Like I sad scary !

    • The nature of human itself is greed, and selfish. Human always tend to suppress other human consciously or unconsciously. Commonly the one who suppress people are clever, intellect, and educated. I called it “cunning scholar”. Commonly, in many “religion” is a tool to suppress another character of human being such as ego, greed, etc or to educate self awareness in term of deed.

In the future (may be), where the wrong is define as good-deed and right are define as wrong-deed. How atheist will find the reference to go back to right path?

        hello Sophia,

thanks for your comments. Your Comments have brought me back to my blog, more in the the past two days, than in the last two weeks. I am glad you enjoy, i will try to continue and post regulary. I have a few half-finished post I have worked on, but I have not completed. And few unfinished that I have started but still need a lot of work. So I will try to get atleaast two done this month. for those who enjoy the blog.

But i wanted to comment on your story about the question you ask to those about the raping of Native americans…. I remember a few years back when trying to evangelize to one of my own co-workers. He posed the same question to me. And really I did not have an answer. I did not have a real answer. The chrisitan can really only provide to answers for that which is:

        1. They weren’t real christians
        2. That was not part of Gods plan

And its sad, because those are not answers, but Excuses for not being to answer a real ginuine question. and that is one area Christianity and religion has always struggled to answer. They have failed to answer the question of Suffereing. And why do the both the Good and Evil, but expierence the same level of suffering. Why does is appear as if God does not care???

the best illustration of this, is the movie….. God on Trial…..I recommend for everyone to watch this movie.

The atheist is on the right path !!! When will you find the right one ?
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able?
Then he is NOT omnipotent !
Is he able, but not willing ?
    Then he is malevolent !
Is He both able and willing ?
    Then whence cometh evil ?
Is he neither able nor willing ?
Then why call him God !
